COMEDY WRITER
Being a screenwriter and comedian, with a career in persuasive rhetoric and background in avant-garde performance art, I bring a singular mix of talents to your production- all tinted with a queer comedic hue. Successfully writing everything from scripts, jokes, speeches, grant proposals, and marketing copy, I dare you to give me a writing challenge I can’t contribute to.
JOKE MAKER: I studied comedy writing with Armando Diaz (Upright Citizen’s Brigade, Conan O’Brien) at Magnet Theater. As a stand up comedian, I’ve been booked for Broadway Comedy Club’s Yaaas Fest and Thoroughly Gay Thursdays. As a comedy writer, I’ve worked directly with RuPaul’s Drag Race, consulting on comedic sketches, jokes, runway themes, snatch game questions, and mini and maxi challenge announcements.
WRITER / PERFORMER: Films I write and perform in are official selections for major festivals, like the NYC Independent Film Festival. Sketch comedy shorts I’ve made have underground credibility too, winning distinctions like “Best Experimental Comedy” at Night of Comedy Shorts in Milan, Italy.
SCREENWRITER: My short comedy script Algorithm and Blues was a Semifinalist for both the 2024 Atlanta Film Festival and Creative Screenwriting Magazine Competition. The short comedy Shit Audition received a “Recommend” from Bulletproof screenwriting. Both projects were fixtures on Coverfly's Red List of top performing scripts.
Below you’ll find examples of my darkly comedic writing style. Whether absurdist, observational, political, queer or non-verbal, I’ll bring a unique point of view to your writers room. Download my resume for more. Thanks!
ABSURDIST HUMOR
EXAMPLE 1: AVENUE WTF
Synopsis: Glenn, an uptight puppeteer, is fighting with Larry, his sex positive partner. Shonda, their no-nonsense psychologist, acts as mediator after a disastrous audition.
Tagline: Therapy for a man and his hand.
I wrote and produced this comedy short, playing both Glenn and Larry (the puppet).
Avenue WTF is an official selection for NYC Independent Film Festival, Philly Sketchfest, New Filmmakers NY, Battle of the Sketches, Portland Comedy Film Festival, and NYC Short Comedy Film Festival.
EXAMPLE 2: TOXIC POSITIVI-TEA
Synopsis: In this satirical micro-sketch, a cheerful teabag named Bag Boy preaches the virtues of resilience, only to be boiled alive in a darkly comic twist.
I wrote and starred in this little nugget of a sketch making fun of toxic positivity.
Toxic Positivi-tea is a winner of “Best Experimental Comedy” for Night of Comedy Shorts in Milan, “Best 1 Minute Film” for Calcutta International Cult Film Festival, and is an official selection for Houston Comedy Film Festival.
OBSERVATIONAL COMEDY
EXAMPLE: HONEST HOME WORKOUTS
Synopsis: A guy going through something attempts to lift his mood by working out at home.
Tagline: Things look bleak? Half-ass your physique.
This sketch makes light of our need to maximize every moment, whether you feel like it or not. What does it look like when you have no instructor to motivate you or workout buddies to share the experience with?
Honest Home Workouts was a sketch comedy finalist for the Georgia Comedy Film Festival and All The Laughs Comedy Awards.
POLITICAL COMMENTARY
EXAMPLE: WHITE MEDIOCRITY AWARDS
Synopsis: In this biting mockumentary-style sketch, self-proclaimed “renaissance man” Chad Douche (pronounced Doo-Shay) showcases his spectacular failures and shameless ego as he lobbies for recognition at the satirical White Mediocrity Awards. With acronyms and unchecked confidence, he hilariously celebrates all the things that make him mid.
White Mediocrity Awards is an official selection for the 2024 NYC Short Comedy Festival and 2025 Austin Micro Film Festival.
QUEER POV
EXAMPLE: GAY-SPLAINER
Synopsis: Cis-gendered straight couple seek fabulous and bitchy best friend to solve their problems. Now, there’s an app for that.
I wrote this sketch to satirically poke fun at people who treat the queer community like make-over machines and sassy side-kicks.
Gay-Splainer was part of Gay Stuff, a live comedy show at the Peoples Improv Theater. Metrosource Magazine called it "one of the best" LGBT happenings in New York City.
NON-VERBAL STORYTELLING
EXAMPLE: BALL’S REVENGE
Synopsis: After being carelessly discarded, a bouncy ball sets out to take revenge on their ex-owner, and whoever else gets in its way.
For this project, I was challenged to make a one minute film with only in-camera editing.
